The Glanza came out of the Toyota and Suzuki partnership, which began with the agreement announced in 2017. Toyota Kirloskar Motor put the first Glanza on sale in India in June 2019 as a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Baleno, with Toyota styling cues and its own warranty and service terms. The first generation used the 1.2 litre K12B petrol engine with a manual or CVT gearbox, and a 1.2 litre K12C mild-hybrid with a manual gearbox. A second generation arrived in 2022, with the K12N 1.2 litre engine, a manual or AMT gearbox, and a CNG option. A facelift followed in October 2026, switching to a new 1.2 litre three-cylinder Z12E engine on petrol or CNG, with a manual or an AMT.
