GR DKR Hilux T1+ (2022)

GR DKR Hilux T1+ V6 (2022-2023) · 2022–20234WD

For 2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing built an all-new GR DKR Hilux to the FIA's T1+ regulations, its biggest technical leap since the program began. It swapped the old V8 for the twin-turbo 3.5-litre V35A V6 shared with the road-going Land Cruiser 300, gained 350 mm of suspension travel and 37-inch tyres, and ran at the regulated 2,000 kg minimum. Al-Attiyah and Baumel won the Dakar Rally outright in both 2022 and 2023 and took the inaugural and second World Rally-Raid Championship titles.

STORY

The Hilux Dakar is the rally-raid racing version of Toyota's pickup, campaigned in the Dakar Rally by Toyota Gazoo Racing and partners such as Hallspeed/Overdrive. Progressively developed from V8-powered two-wheel-drive machines to T1+ four-wheel-drive designs, it delivered Toyota's first outright Dakar victory in 2019 with Nasser Al-Attiyah. It remains a front-running contender in the cross-country world.
