The X is a Japanese-market Hilux pickup of the AN120 generation, sold from 2017 after the model returned to Japan. It uses the 2.4 litre four-cylinder 2GD-FTV turbodiesel with 150 PS and 400 Nm, an automatic gearbox and part-time four-wheel drive. As the lower of the two Japanese grades, it is the plainer, work-oriented choice next to the Z.

STORY

The Hilux went on sale in Japan on 21 March 1968 as the RN10. Later generations were introduced in September 1978, September 1988 and September 1997, and the seventh, the Hilux Vigo, began production and launch in Thailand in August 2004. The eighth generation had its world premiere in Thailand in May 2015. Toyota unveiled the ninth generation in November 2025, a little over ten years later, with a dual-motor battery-electric version and a mild-hybrid 2.8-litre diesel among its powertrains.
