Europe's ninth-generation Hilux pairs the 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV turbodiesel with a 48 volt mild-hybrid system, four-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. Sales began in 2025. The mild-hybrid is the version offered with the diesel in Europe, and the automatic is the gearbox that goes with it.

STORY

The Hilux went on sale in Japan on 21 March 1968 as the RN10. Later generations were introduced in September 1978, September 1988 and September 1997, and the seventh, the Hilux Vigo, began production and launch in Thailand in August 2004. The eighth generation had its world premiere in Thailand in May 2015. Toyota unveiled the ninth generation in November 2025, a little over ten years later, with a dual-motor battery-electric version and a mild-hybrid 2.8-litre diesel among its powertrains.
