N140 2.4 2L-T Turbo Diesel

N140 · 1997–2006RWD

Toyota fitted the N140 Hilux with the 2.4 litre 2L-T turbodiesel for international markets from 1997 to 2006. This truck has rear-wheel drive and a manual gearbox, and the turbocharger gave it more pull than the plain 2L diesel. In Europe, Thailand and Malaysia the 2.5 litre 2KD-FTV later replaced the older turbodiesels.

STORY

The Hilux went on sale in Japan on 21 March 1968 as the RN10. Later generations were introduced in September 1978, September 1988 and September 1997, and the seventh, the Hilux Vigo, began production and launch in Thailand in August 2004. The eighth generation had its world premiere in Thailand in May 2015. Toyota unveiled the ninth generation in November 2025, a little over ten years later, with a dual-motor battery-electric version and a mild-hybrid 2.8-litre diesel among its powertrains.
