N50 · 1983–1984RWD

North American buyers of the N50 Hilux in the 1983 and 1984 model years could order the 2.4 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, the 22R-EC. It was rear-wheel drive with a manual gearbox. STORY

The Hilux went on sale in Japan on 21 March 1968 as the RN10. Later generations were introduced in September 1978, September 1988 and September 1997, and the seventh, the Hilux Vigo, began production and launch in Thailand in August 2004. The eighth generation had its world premiere in Thailand in May 2015. Toyota unveiled the ninth generation in November 2025, a little over ten years later, with a dual-motor battery-electric version and a mild-hybrid 2.8-litre diesel among its powertrains.
