Four-wheel drive and a manual gearbox came with this export N80 Hilux, powered by the 2.4 litre 22R-E fuel-injected petrol engine with 192 Nm of torque. It was sold from 1989 to 1997. The 22R-E was the fuel-injected sibling of the 2.4 litre 22R carburetted engine, which is the main reason to choose it over that cheaper truck.

STORY

The Hilux went on sale in Japan on 21 March 1968 as the RN10. Later generations were introduced in September 1978, September 1988 and September 1997, and the seventh, the Hilux Vigo, began production and launch in Thailand in August 2004. The eighth generation had its world premiere in Thailand in May 2015. Toyota unveiled the ninth generation in November 2025, a little over ten years later, with a dual-motor battery-electric version and a mild-hybrid 2.8-litre diesel among its powertrains.
