STORY

Toyota called the Ipsum its first model for the Japanese minivan market when it went on sale on 21 May 1996, a seven-seater deliberately kept inside the 5-number tax class, built on the Corona Premio platform and sold by Toyopet Store and Toyota Vista Store. Its 1,998 cc 3S-FE made 135 PS, a 2,184 cc 94 PS turbodiesel followed in 1997, and nine seating arrangements were possible; Britain took the same car as the Picnic from January 1997. The ACM21W and ACM26W cars of 14 May 2001 grew out of the 5-number class on a dedicated platform, carried a 2,362 cc 2AZ-FE of 160 PS, and moved the spare wheel under the front seats to free 132 litres of load space behind the third row. Europe knew it as the Avensis Verso. Production of the second car ended in December 2009.
