FJ45 3.9 F Long Wheelbase Pickup

FJ40 · 1963–19754WD

FJ45 Land Cruiser long-wheelbase two-door pickup sold in Japan from 1963 to 1975. It is powered by the 3.9 litre F six-cylinder petrol engine with four-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. The J45/47 long-wheelbase range also included hardtop and wagon bodies, so this is the open pickup version, offering a load bed that the short FJ40 SUV does not have.

STORY

The Land Cruiser began as a Jeep-type utility vehicle: Toyota finished its Jeep-type prototype in January 1951, and the production truck was sold as the Toyota Jeep BJ. In 1954 the name changed to Land Cruiser, partly because Willys held the Jeep trademark. The 70 series, introduced in 1984 as the successor to the long-serving 40 series, came in heavy-duty and light-duty forms. The catalog groups many generations under this one name, from the BJ and 20 series to the J250 and J300, and they cover different body styles and markets.
