STORY

Toyota's sub-one-ton cab-over line opened with the Liteace truck in November 1970 and added van and wagon bodies in February 1971, sold through Toyota Auto Store. A new van followed in October 1979. The M30 and M40 wagon of 18 September 1985 replaced leaf springs with a four-link rear axle and rack-and-pinion steering, and part-time four-wheel drive followed a month later. On 23 October 1996 the R40 and R50 cars moved the engine forward into a semi-cab-over body, still rear-driven, with a 1,998 cc 130 PS petrol or a 2,184 cc 91 PS turbodiesel, and the wagon became the Voxy in November 2001. The S400 van and truck of 25 February 2008 were designed and built by Daihatsu in Indonesia. The name left the Japanese price list in June 2020 and returned on export markets in July 2022.
