Grande 2000 Hardtop (1G-EU)

X60 · 1980–1984RWD

The Grande 2000 Hardtop was a four-door hardtop in the X60 Mark II range, sold in Japan from 1980 to 1984. The 1G-EU was a fuel-injected 2.0-liter inline-six, driving the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox. Grande trim was limited to the larger engines, and the two-door coupe had given way to the Soarer.

STORY

Toyota introduced the Corona Mark II in September 1968 as a model between the Corona and the Crown. The X90 generation of 1992 brought the Tourer V, whose twin-turbo 2.5-litre 1JZ-GTE became the car's best-known engine, and the next X100 followed in 1996. The ninth and last generation, the X110, appeared in 2000. The sedan went out of production in 2004, when the Mark X replaced it in Japan, while a wagon version, the Mark II Blit, was built until 2007.
