MR2 Roadster 6MT (EU)

W30 (ZZW30) · 2003–2006RWD

The MR2 Roadster with a six-speed manual was sold in Europe from 2003 to 2006, following the facelift that Toyota introduced for that model year. Its mid-mounted 1.8-litre four drives the rear wheels. The extra gear and a stiffened body mark it out from the earlier five-speed European cars, and it is the manual that suits purists.

STORY

Toyota began building the mid-engined, rear-drive MR2 in June 1984. The AW11 used a transverse 1.6 litre 4A-GE, rated at 130 PS gross in Japan against 112 hp (SAE net) in the US, and a supercharged 4A-GZE was added in Japan in 1986. The SW20 of 1989 took a 2.0 litre 3S-GE or turbocharged 3S-GTE, which made 245 PS in Japan from late 1993. The W30, sold in Japan as the MR-S, was built from October 1999 and ended in July 2007.
