STORY

The seven-seat Passo went on sale on 25 December 2008, and the engineering behind it was not Toyota's: the two firms planned the car jointly, then Daihatsu took over development and production and supplied it to Toyota as an OEM model while selling its own version as the Boon Luminas. The M502E and M512E cars were stretched versions of the Passo and Daihatsu Boon hatchback of June 2004, gaining 310 mm of wheelbase, 580 mm of length and 85 mm of height to reach 4,180 mm on a 2,750 mm wheelbase, with 4,195 mm on some grades, and the rear doors were ordinary front-hinged items rather than the sliders a minivan would use. A single engine was listed, the 1,495 cc 3SZ-VE at 80 kW (109 PS), with a four-speed automatic and front or four-wheel drive. Daihatsu's Kyoto plant built every car, Toyota Corolla Store sold them, and the line ended in 2012 with no successor.
