STORY
The Passo was Toyota's entry-level hatchback, developed jointly with Daihatsu, assembled by Daihatsu at Ikeda and sold through Corolla Store from 7 June 2004 as the replacement for the Duet; Daihatsu marketed the twin as the Boon. The first car, KGC10 and QNC10, was 3,595 mm long on a 2,440 mm wheelbase with a minimum turning radius of 4.3 m, and ran Daihatsu engines: a 996 cc three-cylinder 1KR-FE of 52 kW (71 PS) and a 1,297 cc K3-VE of 66 kW (90 PS), four-wheel drive offered only with the one-litre. February 2010 brought a second car on the same platform, with a Dual VVT-i 1NR-FE in place of the old 1.3 and a CVT throughout. The third, M700A, arrived in April 2016 with Daihatsu handling development as well as build, dropped the 1.3 altogether, and production ended in 2023.
