S201U 2WD 5MT (KF-VE)

S200 · 2011–2014RWD

Pixis Truck S201U, a pickup sold in Japan from 2011 to 2014 with rear-wheel drive. It has the 660 cc KF-VE three-cylinder petrol engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. Toyota sold the ninth-generation kei truck as the Pixis Truck from December 2011, and the page says the engine layout is mid-engine. This version pairs two-wheel drive with the manual, so it differs from the 4WD S211U and the automatic.

STORY

The Pixis Truck went on sale in Japan in December 2011 as Toyota's badge-engineered version of the Daihatsu Hijet Truck, filling the kei commercial gap in the Toyota range. The first trucks used the ninth-generation Hijet body. A new tenth-generation truck, coded S500 and S510, arrived in September 2014 with the 660 cc KF engine shared across Daihatsu's kei models. Daihatsu builds the truck and Toyota sells it through its own dealers alongside the Pixis Van. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with part-time four-wheel drive and both manual and automatic gearboxes available. It remains a no-frills load carrier for small businesses, farmers and tradespeople.
