STORY
The Porte was Toyota's own idea, launched on 26 July 2004 on the first-generation Vitz platform with the wheelbase pulled out 230 mm to 2,600 mm and a minivan-shaped body on top. Its main feature was one very large wireless powered sliding door on the passenger side, 1,020 mm wide and 1,265 mm high, with the floor just 300 mm off the ground, so passengers and luggage used the same opening. The NNP10 and NNP11 cars ran the 1,298 cc 2NZ-FE at 64 kW (87 PS) or the 1,496 cc 1NZ-FE at 80 kW (109 PS), front drive only until four-wheel drive arrived as the NNP15 in December 2005, and Welcab versions made it a care vehicle. Takaoka built it first, Daihatsu's Kyoto plant from March 2006. Toyota Store and Toyopet Store sold it. The second body of 23 July 2012 added a driver-side rear door and gained a Spade twin for Corolla Store and Netz; sales ended in December 2020.
