STORY
Premio took over from the Corona on 25 December 2001, and the nearly identical Allion appeared the same day. The split was commercial: Toyopet Store sold the Premio, Toyota Store the Allion. Bodies differed as well, 4,600 mm for the Premio against 4,550 mm for the Allion, the Premio formal, the Allion sporty, and at launch each had its own headlamps. Underneath they matched. The T240 cars used a 2,700 mm wheelbase, 120 mm longer than the Corona's, and offered the 1.5 1NZ-FE, 1.8 1ZZ-FE and the 2.0 direct-injection 1AZ-FSE at 112 kW (152 PS); the same engine went into the AZT250 Avensis of October 2003, there rated 114 kW (155 PS). T260 followed on 4 June 2007, and the facelift of 13 June 2016 split them further: a chrome horizontal-bar grille and C-shaped rear lamps for the Premio, block mesh and six-eye stop lamps for the Allion. Tsutsumi built both until March 2021.
