STORY

The Toyota Rumion is a rebadged second-generation Suzuki Ertiga, sold under the Toyota name from 2021. The Ertiga is a compact three-row MPV that Suzuki has made since 2012, mainly for emerging markets. The second generation was unveiled in Jakarta on 19 April 2018 and uses the HEARTECT platform, about 130 mm longer than the first generation. It carries a 1.5-litre petrol engine, with mild-hybrid SHVS technology on some versions. The Rumion is sold in Africa and India. In South Africa the Suzuki Ertiga's second generation launched on 8 March 2019 with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The Ertiga name comes from R3, with tiga meaning three in Indonesian and the R standing for row. The Rumion is a Suzuki-built car sold with Toyota badges.
