STORY

The Sequoia was Toyota's answer to full-size American SUVs, a three-row wagon on the Tundra's ladder frame, unveiled in Detroit on 10 January 2000. Toyota's plant records put the start of production at Princeton, Indiana, in September 2000, and the truck sold in the United States from the 2001 model year through 2007 with the 4.7-litre i-Force V8 at 240 hp. The XK60 second generation arrived for the 2008 model year with independent rear suspension and the 381 hp 5.7-litre V8, and the 2022 model year was its last. Toyota revealed the XK80 on 25 January 2022, built it at San Antonio and sold it from the 2023 model year with a single powertrain, the i-FORCE MAX: a twin-turbo V6 of 3,445 cc with a motor generator in the bell housing ahead of a 10-speed automatic, rated 437 hp and 583 lb-ft, which retired the V8 from the line.
