STORY
The Sparky was Daihatsu engineering under a Toyota badge, and it reached buyers under both names. Daihatsu stretched the kei Atrai Wagon's rear floor and wheelbase into the 1,297 cc Atrai 7 and sold it from 7 July 2000; Toyota took the car on OEM supply and sold it from 28 September 2000 through the Vista chain, with Netz Toyota Okinawa covering Okinawa. Toyota's contribution was cosmetic, an aero front bumper, grille and trim, with the mechanics untouched: a K3-VE four of 66 kW (90 PS) under the front seats, rear or full-time four-wheel drive, a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, and seven seats inside 3,765 mm. Daihatsu built every one. Orders reached about 2,000 in the first month against a target of 1,500, and the Sienta replaced the Sparky in September 2003.
