STORY

The T100 was a pickup Toyota released only for the United States, one of the trucks the company itself describes as sold exclusively in that market, though it was built in Japan. Model years rather than a Japanese launch date mark out its life: the EPA fuel-economy registry and the NHTSA records both run it from the 1993 through the 1998 model years, so the 1999 date carried by Toyota's own U.S. photo archive matches neither. For 1993 the EPA records a 2.4-litre four and a 3.0-litre V6; a 2.7-litre four arrived for 1994 and the V6 grew to 3.4 litres for 1995. Toyota's media archive shows two- and four-wheel-drive SR5 trucks from 1993 and an Xtra Cab for 1994. The larger Tundra took over, its production starting in Indiana in February 1999.
