STORY

Toyota brought the Tundra to showrooms in June 1999 as a 2000 model, a full-size pickup for North America, built at the new Princeton, Indiana plant, and Motor Trend named it 2000 Truck of the Year on 20 December 1999. The 2007 model reached dealers in February 2007 as Regular and Double Cab, with the CrewMax following in March, and its 5.7-litre V8 was rated at 381 hp. The third generation, built in San Antonio, Texas, from December 2021 as a 2022 model, dropped the V8 for a twin-turbo V6 that Toyota calls a 3.5-litre, rated at up to 389 hp, and added an i-FORCE MAX hybrid at 437 hp. Toyota quotes maximum towing at 12,000 lb.
