STORY

Urban Cruiser is a name Toyota has attached to several unrelated cars rather than one model line. It appeared first in Europe in 2009 on the second-generation Japanese ist of 30 July 2007, a 3,930 mm crossover whose 1.4 D-4D all-wheel-drive version was claimed as the lowest-CO2 four-wheel-drive passenger car at 130 g/km, and which North America sold as the Scion xD. A different Urban Cruiser, a 3,995 mm petrol crossover, went on sale in India in 2020, and the badge now also sits on the Hyryder, the Taisor and the Ebella there. The 2024 car is another machine again: a battery-electric SUV premiered on 12 December 2024, 4,285 mm long, with 49 or 61 kWh of lithium-iron-phosphate cells and 106 to 135 kW. Suzuki and Toyota announced on 30 October 2024 that Suzuki had developed it and would supply it to Toyota, with manufacturing at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India from the spring of 2025.
