STORY
Several Toyotas carried a Verso name in Europe; the AR10 and AR20 are the Turkish-built compact MPV, not the Ipsum-based Avensis Verso or the Ractis-based Verso-S. Toyota's Sakarya plant in Turkey began building the AR10 Corolla Verso, the second car of that name, in March 2004, raising the plant's capacity from 100,000 to 150,000 cars a year, and European sales followed that May; Toyota designed and built it in Europe on a new platform with new suspension and steering. Production of the AR20 began in March 2009, coinciding with the plant's one-millionth vehicle and following more than 430,000 Corolla Verso built there. The name lost its Corolla prefix, the car was launched at the 2009 Geneva show and UK sales opened that April. A 2013 restyle added 1.6 Valvematic and 1.6 D-4D engines from 119 g/km beside the 1.8 Valvematic the car already had, and British sales ran to 2018.
