The Story

Why the Wigo matters

The Wigo is Toyota's low-cost city hatchback for emerging markets, a rebadged version of the Daihatsu Ayla developed in Indonesia. The first generation, B100, reached the Philippines as the Wigo in 2014 with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, a manual or a four-speed automatic. The second generation, A350, rides on Daihatsu's DNGA-A platform with a longer body and wheelbase and a CVT in place of the old automatic. The Philippine version launched on 14 July 2023 with the 1.0-litre engine only. Other markets, including Vietnam, offer a 1.2-litre version.
