The Yaris Verso 1.3 VVT-i is the main petrol version of the tall mini-MPV sold in Europe from 1999 to 2005. A 1.3-litre four-cylinder drives the front wheels through a manual gearbox. The Verso used the Yaris platform with a taller body for extra space, and the 1.4 D-4D diesel was added later.

STORY

The Yaris Verso was Toyota's compact five-seat MPV, built on the platform of the first Yaris. Toyota launched it in Japan as the Fun Cargo in August 1999 and in Europe under the Yaris Verso name in January 2000. Against the Yaris hatchback the roof was 180 mm higher, the wheelbase 130 mm longer and the body 250 mm longer. The 1.3-litre VVT-i petrol engine, was the main choice, and a 1.4-litre D-4D diesel joined it later. Production ended in 2005, with the Ractis taking over in Japan in October 2005.
