The Yaris Verso 1.4 D-4D is the diesel mini-MPV for Europe, with a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel making 75 PS and 170 Nm, a manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. Its torque gave it an advantage over the 1.3-litre petrol in a taller body, and it arrived in the first half of the 2000s.

STORY

The Yaris Verso was Toyota's compact five-seat MPV, built on the platform of the first Yaris. Toyota launched it in Japan as the Fun Cargo in August 1999 and in Europe under the Yaris Verso name in January 2000. Against the Yaris hatchback the roof was 180 mm higher, the wheelbase 130 mm longer and the body 250 mm longer. The 1.3-litre VVT-i petrol engine, was the main choice, and a 1.4-litre D-4D diesel joined it later. Production ended in 2005, with the Ractis taking over in Japan in October 2005.
