STORY

The Carlton was Vauxhall's large rear-wheel-drive saloon and estate, sold from 1978 as an executive-class family car. The second-generation Carlton of 1986 led to the Lotus Carlton, a Lotus-developed 377 bhp twin-turbo super-saloon capable of 176 mph that became one of the fastest four-doors of its era. The standard Carlton was replaced by the Omega in 1994.
