The Story

Why the Lux A2.0 matters

The Lux A2.0 was VinFast's first sedan and, alongside the Lux SA2.0 SUV, one of the two cars that launched Vietnam's first volume automaker at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. It was engineered on a licensed BMW 5 Series (F10) platform with a BMW-derived 2.0-litre turbocharged four, while the bodywork was styled by Pininfarina in Turin. Production ran at VinFast's purpose-built Haiphong plant from 2019 until the company halted all combustion-engine output at the end of 2022 to become a pure EV brand.

The only generation: a rear-drive D-segment sedan on BMW F10 underpinnings with a 2.0 turbo four rated at roughly 174-228 hp depending on tune, an eight-speed ZF automatic and Pininfarina styling. Built at Haiphong from 2019 and discontinued at the end of 2022 when VinFast abandoned combustion engines.
