STORY

The first Crafter was launched in 2006 as the successor to Volkswagen's LT line, which dated from 1975, and it shared its basis with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, both vans being built in Duesseldorf and Ludwigsfelde. The cooperation was not extended beyond 2016, and in March 2014 Volkswagen confirmed a new plant in Września, Poland. It opened on 24 October 2016 with an investment of about 800 million euros, a capacity of 100,000 vans a year and about 3,000 employees. The second-generation Crafter is built there, and MAN sells the same van as the TGE.
