The Mk3 Golf GTI is a three-door hatchback with a 2.0-litre eight-valve four-cylinder making 115 PS and 166 Nm through a 5-speed manual. It reaches 194 km/h and covers 0-100 km/h in 10.3 seconds. For the GTI's 20th anniversary Volkswagen built a run of just 1,000 Mk3 cars, split into 600 eight-valve, 150 sixteen-valve and 250 TDI models, with Recaro seats and BBS wheels.

STORY

The Volkswagen Golf is a compact car introduced in 1974 as the front-engine, front-wheel-drive successor to the Beetle, one of the most influential and best-selling cars in history. Its first generation, styled by Giugiaro, defined the modern hatchback class. The GTI hot hatch and many body variants came later. Eight generations have been produced, with tens of millions sold worldwide.
