STORY

The Volkswagen Phaeton was a full-size luxury sedan launched in 2002 as VW's flagship, developed under chairman Ferdinand Piëch and built at the purpose-built Transparent Factory in Dresden. It shared its platform with the Bentley Continental Flying Spur and offered W12 and other engines, but sold in small numbers and was withdrawn from the US market in 2006. Production ended in 2016.
