STORY

The 260 series was the six-cylinder branch of the 240 family. Volvo presented the 264 in the autumn of 1974 with a 2.7-litre aluminium V6 developed with Peugeot and Renault, and the 265 became its first six-cylinder estate. A two-door 262 was built for North America, 3,329 cars, before the Bertone-built 262C coupe appeared at Geneva in 1977; 6,622 were made through 1981. The 265 lasted until 1985, and the whole 260 range totalled 177,402 cars.
