STORY

The S70 sedan replaced the 850 sedan, which Volvo had unveiled in June 1991. It appeared at the end of 1996 and reached the US as an early 1998 model, with about 1,800 changes made over the 850. Every petrol engine was a twin-cam inline five-cylinder, from about 2.0 to 2.4 litres. An all-wheel-drive S70 was announced at the 1998 Paris show and a GLT sedan with all-wheel drive joined the US range for 1999. Volvo built the S70 until 2000.
