STORY
The Hongguang S was a passenger version of Wuling's Hongguang MPV line, sold from 2013 and aimed at families and small businesses in China's lower-tier cities. For years the wider Hongguang family was among the highest-volume nameplates in China, built on a rear-wheel-drive, front-engine layout taken from light commercial practice. Power came from small 1.2- and 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engines with a manual gearbox. The more car-like Hongguang S1 and S3 later joined the family.
