The SU7 was Xiaomi's first car. It was revealed in December 2023 and launched in China in late March 2024, after the smartphone maker committed roughly $10 billion to a decade-long auto programme announced in 2021. It is built at Xiaomi's own Beijing plant. The low-slung electric fastback undercut the Tesla Model 3 on price, with an 800V-capable architecture on higher trims and deep integration with Xiaomi's HyperOS phone and smart-home ecosystem. Demand overwhelmed the company: nearly 90,000 locked-in orders arrived within 24 hours of launch, and waiting lists stretched past six months. This made the SU7 one of the fastest-selling new nameplates in China.
The Xiaomi SU7 is an all-electric sport sedan and the first production car from the smartphone giant. It was launched in March 2024 as the flagship of Xiaomi Auto. It competes with the Tesla Model 3 and Porsche Taycan, and combines a sleek fastback shape with rear- or dual-motor all-wheel-drive layouts and batteries from CATL or BYD. Its key feature is deep integration with Xiaomi's HyperOS ecosystem, so phones, tablets and smart-home devices sync easily with the car. The SU7 was an instant hit in China, with huge waiting lists, and it justified founder Lei Jun's bet of roughly $10 billion on the EV business.
