Audi AI:Trail quattro

An electric, driveshaft-free off-roader lit by camera-controlled drone headlights.

The AI:Trail quattro combined serious off-road ability with Level 4 autonomy and a fully electric quattro drivetrain using four motors and no driveshafts. Riding on 22-inch wheels with 33.5-inch tyres, it offered 34 cm of ground clearance and could ford water over half a metre deep. Its signature party trick was a fleet of rotor-driven drones that could fly ahead to light the trail.
