The 500-million-pound electric SUV Dyson built then binned
Dyson poured about 500 million pounds into a seven-seat electric SUV, code-named N526, before cancelling the project in October 2019 on the grounds that it could not be made commercially viable. In May 2020 James Dyson revealed images and details of the finished prototype, a five-metre-long car riding on huge wheels and powered by twin electric motors, with the company's proprietary solid-state battery technology claimed to enable an exceptional range. Dyson said he had driven it around a secret test compound.
