A Heatherwick-designed autonomous EV that cleans the air as it drives
Designed by Thomas Heatherwick's studio for the SAIC-backed IM Motors brand, the Airo was launched at the Shanghai Motor Show on April 19, 2021. The fully electric, autonomous-capable concept measures about 5 m long on a 3.4 m wheelbase and carries a HEPA filtration system under the body that cleans the surrounding air of pollution from other vehicles. Its lounge-like cabin uses four 360-degree rotating seats that can fold into a bed, plus retractable table and screen elements. Production was targeted for 2023.
