The world's first production-ready long-range solar car

First shown as the Lightyear One in 2019 and finalised as the Lightyear 0 in June 2022, this Dutch solar electric fastback covers its bonnet, roof and boot with about 5 square metres of solar cells that can add up to 70 km of range on a summer day. An obsessive focus on efficiency, a record-low 0.175 drag coefficient and four in-wheel motors let it claim a 625 km WLTP range from a modest 60 kWh battery. The first cars were delivered in December 2022, but Lightyear halted 0 production in January 2023 to focus on a cheaper model.
