Maybach Exelero (2005)
Concept car · 2005 · Combustion

A one-of-one V12 super-coupe built to prove a tyre.
The Maybach Exelero is a genuine one-off, commissioned by German tyre maker Fulda (a Goodyear subsidiary) to test its high-performance Carat Exelero tyres and built by Italian coachbuilder Stola on a stretched Maybach 57 chassis. Beneath the two-seat, jet-black bodywork sits a hand-built 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 producing 700 PS and 1,020 Nm, enough to record a proven 351.45 km/h (218 mph) at the Nardo test track. Only one was ever made; it later passed into private hands and famously appeared in Jay-Z’s "Lost One" video, reportedly changing hands for around $8 million.
