The suction fan-car that shattered the Goodwood hill-climb record
A tiny single-seat electric fan-car from British firm McMurtry Automotive, the Spéirling uses a battery-driven 'downforce-on-demand' fan system that generates massive suction grip even from a standstill. Piloted by Max Chilton, it set an outright Goodwood Festival of Speed hill-climb record on 26 June 2022, running the 1.16-mile course in 39.08 seconds and beating the Volkswagen ID.R. A limited road-and-track Spéirling PURE was later announced, with production capped at 100 units.
