1JZ-GTE sedan. The D1GP grassroots staple.

Mark II / Chaser / Cresta four-door sedan with a 1JZ-GTE turbo straight-six. The most-replicated Japanese pro-am drift platform after the Silvia, half the D1GP grid in the 2000s and 2010s ran a JZX.

The JZX series is a Toyota platform family, Mark II, Chaser, Cresta, that shares the same chassis code and the same drivetrain. The defining variants for drift are the JZX90 (1992–1996), JZX100 (1996–2001) and JZX110 (2000–2007). Every variant carries the 1JZ-GTE: 2.5-litre turbocharged inline-six, conservatively rated 280 hp factory, easily into the 500–700 hp range with bolt-ons and the VVT-i head.

The chassis is a four-door sedan, which gave it the practical-car credibility a coupe never had: in Japan you could daily a JZX, take your family in it on the weekend, and run it at Ebisu on Friday night. That practicality scaled the platform into the most-replicated grid car in the Japanese amateur and professional scene through the 2000s and 2010s.

On the pro side, Manabu Orido, Masashi Yokoi, Toshiki Yoshioka and dozens of D1GP regulars campaigned JZX builds. Forrest Wang ran a JZX100 in the early Formula Drift era. In 2026 the platform is still on grid at every D1GP round; the Mark X (JZX120) replaced it in the catalogue, but builders kept the JZX chassis code alive.
