Vermont SportsCar WRX

The only Subaru on the modern Formula Drift grid. Vermont SportsCar, Pastrana's own race team, built a rear-wheel-drive WRX from the rally chassis heritage, and the result is a car that reads in two motorsport languages at once.
Travis Pastrana spent two decades as the visible face of American rallycross and rally, multiple X Games golds in the Subaru WRX STI, Gymkhana entries with Hoonigan. In 2022 his race team Vermont SportsCar built a Formula Drift-spec WRX, and Pastrana ran it on the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
The chassis reads as the Subaru rally programme stretched into a drift car, wide arches, full Subaru livery, all-wheel-drive heritage recast as rear-wheel-drive drift. The build came out of the same shop that runs Subaru rally programmes in WRC. The driving identity stayed Subaru-coded: weight transfer over angle theatre, scandi-flick instincts on entries, the read of a driver whose home discipline judged a different metric.
Cultural function: bridge work. Before Pastrana, the rally and drift paddocks shared only Ken Block; after him, the Subaru identity has a visible drift line too. A grid raised on FD reads "Subaru" now as a chassis they can take seriously, not just a Hoonigan reference.
