Evgeny Satyukov, the first Russian Drift Series champion

The more tyres you wear out, the better you drive.

A Moscow driver who won the very first Russian Drift Series in 2010 and a second title in 2016, Evgeny Satyukov left competition after 2017 and now runs the SatyuCup amateur series.

Satyukov was drawn into drifting in 2008 at an amateur event near Moscow, where William Gukasyan's Silvia left a lasting impression. He sold his road car, bought a Nissan 200SX, spent a year in the garage and drove a full season of amateur events in 2009. The advice he says older drivers gave him became his motto: the more tyres you wear out, the better you drive.

He won the first Russian Drift Series in 2010 and stayed in the top group for years: team titles with TS Power in 2012 and Bridgestone Drift Team in 2013, third place in the 2013 West standings, and a second title in 2016 after topping qualifying at Myachkovo in a BMW M3 for the Toyo Tires Gorilla Energy Techno Cartel team. He called 2016 the hardest season of his career.

In November 2017 he announced that he was leaving drift, and the old The Team line-up of Satyukov, Busygin and Ruzheynikov said goodbye to the series in 2018. He now organises SatyuCup, an amateur drift event at a Moscow technical sports centre, and in 2026 appeared on a long podcast as the first champion of RDS.
