Naoki Nakamura drifting the Team Toyo Tires Drift Nissan S15 at Drift Masters Japan

Calm chase, deep angle, no announcement.

The most visible modern Japanese pro on global stages. Multiple Formula Drift Japan podiums, D1 Lights champion, Team Toyo Tires Drift programme, the S15 chassis carried forward by the discipline-first, low-drama Japanese paddock identity.

Nakamura came up through the D1 Lights ladder in the early 2010s and crossed to the Team Toyo Tires Drift programme around 2014. The pairing locked the visible identity: Toyo Proxes livery, a Nissan S15 Silvia, the founding-era Taniguchi/Saito tandem style updated for the streaming generation.

He won the D1 Lights series and has podiumed at Formula Drift Japan multiple seasons, with appearances at Drift Masters and the Goodwood Festival of Speed taking the Japanese paddock identity onto European and global broadcast. The S15 he runs reads as a master class in repeatable angle on the same chassis NOB Taniguchi defined the original D1GP discipline with.

The cultural function is continuity. After a decade where the most visible drift media moved to American FD and European Drift Masters, Nakamura is the bridge back to the founding paddock, a modern Japanese pro who still drives the way the founders did, and brings that language to whichever global series will book him.
