Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square)

A drift final on the square where independence was declared.

In December 2010 the Formula Drift Asia final ran on a temporary course across Kuala Lumpur's Independence Square, with around fifty drivers from ASEAN, Japan, Hong Kong, China and New Zealand. ESPN STAR Sports was a co-organiser, not simply the broadcaster.

Daigo Saito won the event itself. Tengku Djan Ley took the championship, his second title, after 2009, and it is the run of both that made him the Prince of Drift at home.

The series came back to the square in 2011 and 2012 before the Malaysian round moved on.
