Nürburgring Nordschleife (Grüne Hölle)

Circuit · Germany, Eifel

Porsche through the Caracciola-Karussell on the Nordschleife

The Green Hell. Touristenfahrten Sundays. Every tuner's benchmark.

20.832 km of public-access racing circuit through the Eifel forest. The Nordschleife is not officially a drift venue, drift is even forbidden on Touristenfahrten days, but the tuning culture that produces every serious European drift car treats this circuit as the universal exam. If your build cannot survive seven minutes of the Ring, your build is not finished.

For drift culture specifically the Ring matters as cultural gravity. Mad Mike has lapped here. Adam LZ filmed his RX-7 here. Most modern European pros have at least one Nordschleife lap in their YouTube archive, usually filed under "shakedown". The Ring is the European driver's passport stamp.

Touristenfahrten, tourist driving, runs most Sundays from spring to autumn. You pay €30 for one lap, you accept full responsibility for any damage, and you join roughly twenty thousand other car-cultured people who paid for the same lap that week. There is no other circuit on earth that operates this way.
