The Han launched in China in July 2020 in two forms, the Han EV and the Han DM plug-in hybrid, and the EV used the Blade battery BYD had introduced that March. BYD quoted up to 605 km of NEDC range for the single-motor EV and 81 km of NEDC electric range for the DM. The dual-motor four-wheel-drive EV makes 363 kW and was quoted at 3.9 seconds to 100 km/h, figures reported on 19 May 2020. The DM-i and DM-p versions came later. A separate, newer model, the Han L, arrived in 2025.
The Han is BYD's flagship mid-to-large sedan in the Dynasty series, named after the Han dynasty and launched in 2020. It is offered as a full-electric Han EV and as a Han DM plug-in hybrid, and debuted BYD's Blade LFP battery. Positioned as a premium, performance-oriented executive sedan, it competes with established mid-size luxury cars. It became a halo model showcasing BYD's technology and design maturity.
