3rd gen (UA4/UA5) · 1998–2001FWD

The 32V is the larger-engined third-generation Inspire, sold from 1998 to 2001 in Japan. A 3.2-litre V6 gives 225 PS and 294 N m through a four-speed automatic to the front wheels. It offers more power and torque than the 2.5-litre 25V. It was the larger of the two V6 choices when the generation launched, built as a front-drive sedan on the US-built Accord platform.

STORY

Honda introduced the Inspire in 1989 as the Accord Inspire, a front-drive sedan with a five-cylinder engine mounted longitudinally ahead of the front axle. A 1992 update enlarged the engine to 2.5 litres, and the second generation of 1995 added a 3.2-litre V6. The 1998 third generation dropped the five-cylinder for V6 power on the US-built Accord platform, and later added the 260 PS Type S. A fourth generation followed in 2003 with a 3.0-litre V6 and cylinder deactivation, and the fifth, released in 2007, used a 3.5-litre V6 based on the North American Accord. Sales ended in 2012.
